Cleaning your bottle doesn’t just have to be based on the odor. Any sight of dirt or grime on your reusable bottle signals that it needs to be cleaned immediately.

Dirty water bottles can induce germ infections (such as the E. coli bacteria) and make you susceptible to illness. Hence you must maintain a clean reusable water bottle to make it germ-free. Experts suggested that reusable water bottles should ideally be cleaned after each use. Using the dishwasher to clean reusable water bottles may not be feasible always. It is good to go the old-fashioned way. Put dishwasher-safe water bottles on the top rack to save time.

Useful Tips On How To Clean Your Reusable Water Bottle

  • Instead of vinegar, you might use bleach mixed with water in a 1:10 ratio. The approach is the same as before, but don’t use bleach too routinely.
  • Alternatively, you can rinse the bottle with undiluted hydrogen peroxide and leave it for about 5-10 minutes. Allow the bottle to air-dry for a few minutes after cleaning it.
  • You might also want to consider purchasing bottle-cleaning kits. These items are aimed to complete the bottle-cleaning task in as little as a moment or two.
  • The lids, like the bottles, get filthy quickly. Disinfect reusable water bottle lids with hot water and dishwashing soap. Before reusing the bottles, make sure they are totally dry.
